In October 2023, I wrote a poem every day for the month, inspired by the Los Angeles Poets Society’s literary challenge. The poems are a collection of work that navigates love, loss, and of course, the supernatural. Written from the perspective of a witch falling in love with a vampire, I compare our two central lovers to these supernatural creatures to highlight their differences and the magic of new love.
I’ve also submitted Chronically, Bone Deep to BiblioBoard’s Indie Illinois, a collection of books from local authors. Chronically, Bone Deep is now available through their digital library catalogue.
The Design
While formatting, I also conceptualized and designed the front and back copy. I created the design based on the raw evocative emotions of the poems. The phrase ‘Wearing your heart on your chest’ inspired the image, yet the inevitable pain of love inspired the censoring of the heart.
